Bea Bonafini (Abbey Scholar in Painting 2020–21) is showing work in both Berlin and Mexico City.
Currently open, until 27/03/22: Ghosts for a Post-Modern Tale, featured in a series of independent exhibitions produced by LAAA (Laboratorio de Arte, Arquitectura y Arqueología).
Opening 10/02/22: A Monstrous Fruit at Setareh Berlin.
A Monstrous Fruit is Bea Bonafini’s first solo show in Germany.
New interdisciplinary techniques are developed to achieve a labyrinthine body of new work, embracing engraved paintings on cork, hand-tufted tapestries and pastel drawings. The succulent imagery that emerges takes the viewer on a winding path into the familiar and the uncharted. At times articulated with anatomical precision and others with explosive emotional charge, A Monstrous Fruit is the result of the artist’s reflection on physical and mental confinement during a time of collective grief and reinvention, building on ideas first explored and imagined during her residency at the BSR.
