Everyone is welcome to join the BSR!

Your gift funds a critical pool of flexible, readily-available support that can be put to use wherever it is needed most urgently – with immediate benefit to our residents, programmes, and staff. Please support the Annual Fund at whatever level is most appropriate for you, knowing that the BSR values every gift and every donor.

Current benefits for all Members include:

  • updates on our activities via the BSR News

  • invitations to Members events in the UK and Italy (in an effort to meet our sustainability targets, these invitations are now exclusively via email included in our quarterly Events Leaflet)

  • eligibility to stay at the Residence (pending availability, and at prevailing rates) and use the library

 

Individual Membership is our regular membership level at which you will receive:

  • The BSR News, a termly newsletter with updates about research projects, collaborations and programmes in Rome

  • Regular mailings about our the programme of events

  • The option to subscribe to the Papers of the British School at Rome, the annual journal of the BSR, at a heavily subsidised member rate (additional fees and registration details to be provided prior to autumn publication date)

  • Eligibility to book accommodation in the BSR residence at prevailing rates. Further details are available here

  • 24/7 access to the open stacks Library during your stay at the BSR

  • Access to the Research Support Officer during your stay at the BSR (should you require introduction letters to consult archives, need to submit formal requests to the Directors of museums, galleries and archaeological sites in Italy to study/photograph specific objects for your PhD, research project or publications or guidance with how to purchase museum tickets online)

  • Eligibility to book in for meals at the BSR with our community when in Rome and staying elsewhere (additional fees apply)




Sustaining Membership is a philanthropic level of membership that enjoys all the benefits of the Individual Membership along with:


  • A subscription to receive the Papers of the British School at Rome in print and/or on line

  • Access to the Research Support Officer during normal business hours from anywhere in the world to help further your research project

  • Recognition on a dedicated page of the BSR’s website

  • Opportunities to join the Director and residents for up to two free lunches a year when in Rome.





 

Institutional Membership is for colleges and universities that share the BSR's goal and vision in promoting outstanding interdisciplinary research with the aim of providing a key vantage point for the understanding of the Mediterranean region as a whole. Your organisation will receive:

  • Subscription to the BSR News, a regular newsletter including the event leaflet, as well as regular event reminders for weekly lectures

  • Printed copy of PBSR, the annual journal of the BSR, with online access to back volumes

  • Recognition on a dedicated page of the BSR’s website





 
 

All gifts from individuals above £50 (€60 for those joining in Rome) qualify for BSR membership for the remainder of the calendar year and to the following 31 March.

If you would like to become a member and support our work, there are a few ways to do so.

  • Become a member online via PayPal, by selecting an option on the left. All funds through PayPal go directly to the BSR, and you do not need to have a PayPal account to donate this way.

  • Become a member via email by completing a Membership form and returning it to us. If you would prefer to return your form by post, please send it to our London Office.

Universities, cultural and arts organisations, foundations and museums making a donation of £120 or more to the Annual Fund enjoy:

  • A printed copy of the Papers of the British School at Rome (published each autumn)

  • Access to PBSR Online including earlier volumes of PBSR

  • The ability to propose students for the City of Rome postgraduate course (acceptance is reserved to the BSR), subject to prior agreement with BSR

  • Eligibility for groups to stay at the BSR and use the Library, subject to availability, and at current rates. (NB all group members are also required to become BSR individual members)

  • Reasonable use of BSR research services to support visiting groups

  • E-invitations to Members events in the UK and Italy

  • Emailed updates on our activities past and future via the quarterly BSR News and BSR Events programme
