The British School at Rome is delighted to announce the election to an Honorary Fellowship of Bridget Riley, CH CBE D.Litt (Oxon) Litt.D. (Cantab). One of the United Kingdom’s most significant contemporary artists, Bridget Riley’s work can be found in collections worldwide, and thanks to her great generosity to the BSR, it now also graces our front entrance in the form of the ‘Verve’, her beautiful ceiling painting unveiled in May 2023.
Bridget’s election to an Honorary Fellowship recognises her fundamental contribution to the growth and success of the BSR Fine Arts programmes, not just through the gift of her work to inspire our community in Rome, but also through her long-standing support of fine arts residencies at the BSR through the funding of the Bridget Riley Fellowship since 2016.
