The Spring Open Studios 2024 took place from 6 to 8 March, featuring the studios of the artists in residence.

The artists presented some of their work to answer visitors’ questions and share their research:

Aaron Ford – Sainsbury Scholar, Eloise Fornieles – British Academy Post-Doctoral Fellow, Lynn Fulton – Abbey Fellow in Painting, Kerstin Kartscher – Bridget Riley Fellow, Tura Oliveira – Abbey Fellow in Painting.

The Spring Open Studios have been an opportunity to highlight some aspects of the research that underpins the artists’ work, including the concept of ‘migrating iconography’; drapery and the fold in the representation of clothing in Italian renaissance sculpture; shelters and recreational spaces in the city of Rome; the boundary between mystical vision and demonic possession.
