Dr Angela Trentacoste is the new Peter J Smith Fellow in Archaeology

The BSR is delighted to welcome Dr Angela Trentacoste as the new Peter J Smith Fellow in Archaeology.

Dr. Trentacoste holds an MSc in Environmental Archaeology (2009) and PhD (2014) from the University of Sheffield and has since contributed to the Oxford Roman Economy Project and ZoomWest ERC grant. She currently leads the Humboldt-Foundation funded UrbanHerds project. Angela is Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and has held international grants and awards from international institutions including the BSR, Etruscan Foundation, and Gerda Henkel Stiftung. Her research focuses on the transformation of animal economies with urbanisation and Roman integration. Her work uses agro-pastoral practices as a lens to explore human–landscape interaction and the impact of political organisation on resource exploitation, combining archaeology, zooarchaeology (the study of animal remains from archaeological sites), and archaeological science, particularly isotope analysis.

The BSR is grateful for the generous historic and ongoing support of BSR Archaeology by Mr Peter J Smith.
