The British School at Rome is delighted to present Summer Open Studios 2026, an event dedicated to studio visits of artists in residence at the BSR: Mark Farid – Rome Research Fellow, Lisa-Marie Harris – Sainsbury Scholar, Genevieve Felix Reynolds – National Art School, Sydney Resident, Josh Juett – Helpmann Academy Resident, Odile Lamy – Conseil des arts e des lettres du Québec Residency, Danny Leyland – Abbey Scholar, Evan Shipard – William Fletcher Rome Fellow.

The Summer Open Studios 2026 will be an opportunity to highlight some aspects of the research that underpins the artists’ work, including the memory of present and ancient landscapes embedded in materials; the tradition of En Plein Air painting; the dehumanisation of women and how their bodies are reduced to sites of desire, labour, and extraction; an investigation of pedestrian crossings as everyday sites where governance, the State, and the body intersect; the capacity of visual culture to reflect and shape collective identity; archives and architecture as a collage practice.
