Barbara Borg

Barbara E Borg, PhD, FSA, M.A.E., is Professor of Classical Archaeology at the University of Exeter and Chair of Publications at the BSR. She has published widely on Greek and Roman art, archaeology and history, and her monographs include Roman tombs and the art of commemoration: contextual approaches to funerary customs in the second-century CE (CUP 2019), and Crisis and ambition: tombs and burial customs in third-century CE Rome (OUP 2013), and she has edited Paideia: The World of the Second Sophistic (deGruyter 2004), and The Blackwell Companion to Roman Art (Wiley-Blackwell 2015). Her latest project Mapping the Social History of Rome: A Microhistorical Approach to the Roman Suburbium was funded by a Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship. She is Representative for Archaeology on the Section Committee of Classics and Oriental Studies of the Academia Europea, and member of the Society of Antiquaries of London, the Society for the Promotion of Roman Studies, and Corresponding Member of the German Archaeological Institute. She is also member of several editorial boards including the Journal of Roman Studies.
