Rome Fellowships (nine months)

Rome Fellowships at the BSR offer early career postdoctoral researchers—within three years of the award of their doctorate—the chance to spend nine months in Rome pursuing independent research on the social, religious, political, and economic cultures of the Italian peninsula and their wider reception, from prehistory to the present.

Our Rome Fellows join a dynamic community of scholars and artists working across the humanities, visual arts, and architecture. With access to world-class resources, a lively programme of events, and a network of international research partners, Rome Fellows are supported in developing their work in new and exciting directions.

The BSR offers time and space for focused research, while also encouraging rich intellectual and creative exchange. Whether deepening a long-term project or starting something new, Rome Fellows are part of a tradition of excellence and innovation that connects the UK and Italy with the wider Mediterranean and beyond.

Applications open in September and close in November each year.
