Paul Mellon Centre Rome Fellowship

Each year, the Paul Mellon Centre Rome Fellowship offers a rare opportunity to spend three months at the British School at Rome (BSR) conducting focused research on visually rich themes of cultural contact, exchange, and influence between Britain (including its Empire and Commonwealth) and Italy.

This fellowship welcomes scholars, researchers, curators, and GLAM professionals at all career stages—from early postdocs to internationally recognized experts.

Successful applicants will show a strong interest in exploring Rome’s remarkable art and archival collections, the BSR’s unique resources, and the city itself as a living cultural and architectural masterpiece.

The Paul Mellon Centre administers the competition. Applications usually open in November, with a spring deadline.
