BSR Associate Fellowships

Are you planning a research stay in Rome with your own funding and housing?
The BSR invites applications for Associate Fellowships — flexible, non-stipendiary, non-residential awards for independently supported scholars.

Open to early-career and established researchers in the humanities and social sciences, these Fellowships support work on any aspect of Italian culture, from prehistory to the present — including its textual, visual, and material legacies.

Associate Fellows receive:

  • Formal affiliation with the BSR for 3–12 months

  • Full access to the BSR’s vibrant academic community and eight meals per month at our common table

  • Preferential use of the BSR Library and research facilities

Please note: these Fellowships do not include a stipend or accommodation.

Applications open in March and close at the end of May each year. Click here to apply!
