Opera Recital | Italian Songs and Arias in Recital

A vocal exploration of Italian songs and arias from the Renaissance through to the present day. Through the presentation of various songs, we will consider the Italian school of singing, and the impact of the Italian vocal tradition. 


Versatile soprano Eleanor Greenwood has sung in Australia, in the UK, in Europe, and throughout China. In 2023 Eleanor received the Opera Award for Australian singers and the YMF Australia prize. Recent exciting role debuts include those of Floria Tosca in Puccini’s Tosca in Germany and the role of Turandot in London. In Australia, Eleanor performed in the Bendigo Ring Cycle, in various cycles as Sieglinde (Die Walküre), Dritte Norn (Götterdämmerung) and Ortlinde (Die Walküre), she also covered the role of Freia (Das Rheingold). Eleanor was seen in Opera Queensland’s production of the Sopranos, performed at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, singing in scenes as Leonore from Fidelio and Abagaille from Nabucco. She sang the soprano solo in Verdi’s magnificent Requiem, at QPAC. In 2024 Eleanor was nominated for a Green Room award for her portrayal of Elisabetta in Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda with Melbourne Opera. A graduate of London’s Royal Academy of Music Opera School, and of the Australian National University, she has performed various roles and concerts including concerts. Recent highlights include singing on the historic Alte Oper Frankfurt stage, in concert with the Thüringen Philharmonie, and singing with soprano Sumi Jo at the Festival of Outback Opera in Australia.
