The British School at Rome is pleased to host a public lecture titled On Drawing, featuring Dr Yeoryia Manolopoulou, Professor of Architecture and Experimental Practice at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London, and Prof Níall McLaughlin, Professor of Architectural Practice at the Bartlett School of Architecture and 2022 RIBA Stirling Prize winner for the New Library at Magdalene College, Cambridge.

Dr Manolopoulou is an architect and design researcher whose work explores architecture’s relationship with experience, chance, and the environment. She is the author of Architectures of Chance (Routledge, 2013) and the founder of AY Architects. Her built work and publications have earned numerous accolades, including RIBA National and London Awards, and the Stephen Lawrence Prize.
Her projects have been exhibited internationally, including at the Venice Biennale, the Royal Academy, and Storefront for Art and Architecture. She also played a central role in the Bartlett Design Research Folios series and has served on panels and juries for the AHRC, the RIBA, and several international academic institutions.


Prof Níall McLaughlin is a leading Irish-born architect based in London, known for his work in education, culture, and housing. He is Professor of Architectural Practice at the Bartlett School of Architecture and winner of the 2022 RIBA Stirling Prize for the New Library at Magdalene College, Cambridge. His projects have been widely published and exhibited internationally.
