Ashby Patrons (£2000)

Ashby Patrons play a vital philanthropic role in supporting the BSR’s mission, enabling ambitious projects, scholarships and research and in return gain unparalleled access to the institution and its networks.

Thomas Ashby, the very first Rome Scholar of the newly founded BSR in 1901 and its third Director, helped lay the foundation for what exists today – an interdisciplinary community of artists, scholars and architects not found anywhere else in the Commonwealth. In the early 20th century Ashby’s vision only became reality through the support of those around him – private individuals, livery companies and universities all helped establish new scholarships and provide materials to study.

In the 21st century, members of the Ashby Patrons recognise this collective responsibility to support scholarly research and artistic practice at the highest level. Their generous donations allow the BSR to rise to its true potential by providing support for activities which might otherwise remain unfunded.

Ashby Patrons pay an annual gift of £2,000+. If you have a love of Rome and Italian culture, and are interested in learning more about this group, please contact the Development Office.
