National Art School, Sydney Residency

The BSR is proud to partner with the National Art School, Sydney to offer a transformative three-month residency in Rome for an emerging Australian artist. Located in the lush Valle Giulia, just north of Rome’s historic centre, the BSR offers studio accommodation, shared meals at our communal table, and the rare opportunity to live and work in an international, interdisciplinary community of artists and scholars.

Residents benefit from dedicated time and space to focus on their practice, while engaging with Rome’s extraordinary cultural and artistic heritage. The program fosters creative development through immersion in the city, dialogue with peers, and access to the BSR’s world-class research and exhibition resources.

Eligibility: Open to recent MFA/DFA graduates (within five years) and staff of NAS; applicants must be Australian citizens or residents.

Application deadline: Late June
