This project (2024-2026) gathers research institutions who have been working together for a long time: the University of Newcastle (Project leader), the British School at Athens, the British School at Rome and the British Institute of Ankara. It is funded by the AHRC programme RICHeS, Research Infrastructure for Conservation and Heritage Science.
The objective is to build a versatile and powerful heritage science digital collections management system, aimed at enhancing the knowledge and access to the heritage collection of the 3 British Institutes abroad: archaeological ceramic, lithic and botanic samples, geological reference collections etc.
The BSR is participating through the collaborative work of the Research Collections and Archaeology departments, represented by Alessandra Giovenco and Chris Whittaker, who will integrate our marble samples collection to the project. We will enhance the catalogue, digitise it in 3D, and integrate it in the new platform.
Raphaële Mouren represents the BSR in the project.
