The British School at Rome and its community are saddened to learn of the passing of Professor Anna Gallina Zevi, for many years the Soprintendente of the archaeological park of Ostia Antica and an Honorary Fellow of the BSR. Anna’s support and friendship, together with that of Dott.ssa Lidia Parioli, were instrumental in establishing the Portus Project led by Professor Simon Keay. They shared a vision that saw the understanding of the harbour of Portus as intrinsic to the functioning of Ostia Antica and together communicated a wider appreciation of its role in the maritime trade of Rome. The BSR sends its sincere condolences to Professor Fausto Zevi and family.
