The BSR is delighted to share a new digital collection: Building the BSR

Now part of our Architectural Drawings Collection, this release showcases the rich architectural history of the British School at Rome.

Out of a collection of 56 original drawings, we have digitised 19 drawings that offer a fascinating window on Sir Edwin Lutyens (1869–1944), the renowned British architect behind the iconic BSR façade, alongside works by award-holding Scholars in Architecture from the 1913–30s and later contributions by other architects.

Discover the development of the BSR building over the decades – an evolving story of vision, creativity, and collaboration – and explore the collection and discover the architectural legacy that helped shape the BSR.
