The British School at Rome is delighted to present Summer Open Studios 2025, an evening dedicated to studio visits of artists in residence at the BSR.

The artists will be present with some of their work to answer visitors’ questions and share their research: Can Gun – Abbey Scholar, Ian Law – Abbey Fellow, Jonathan Roy – Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec Resident, Eva Sajovic – UAL Fine Arts Research Fellow, Jelena Telecki – National Art School, Sydney Resident, Ash Tower – Samstag Scholar in the Visual Arts, Tiah Trimboli – Helpmann Academy Resident.

📅 Open Studios
Wednesday 11 June | 16.00 – 19.00
An earlier chance to visit the studios in a quieter setting

📅 Private View
Thursday 12 June | 18.00 – 22.00
With a special evening reception

The Summer Open Studios 2025 will be an opportunity to highlight some aspects of the research that underpins the artists’ work, including art patronage and the representation of power; the 7 pillars of Rome, i.e. the fundamental pillars of our ideology and their collapse; the study of famines in Italy in the modern era and their relationship with folklore and fantasy; the mutual influence of British and Italian perspectives on immigration; Rome in Super 8.

The event represents a different way of experiencing research in progress, that aims to give the audience a broader insight into the artists’ work, to discover their residency projects, their creative practices and, most importantly, to understand how a new environment, meetings and network with the local artistic community, can give rise to new experimentations.

The event will be held in-person. No registration is required to attend.
