Second BSR/Early Medieval Europe Fellowship

In partnership with the journal Early Medieval Europe, the British School at Rome is pleased to announce the second BSR/EME Fellowship.

Aimed at early career researchers (defined as current PhD students + postdoctoral researchers, max 2 years after PhD award by the application deadline) working on early medieval European history, the BSR/EME Fellowship will cover a month’s stay (30 nights) at the BSR, plus a contribution to travel of up to £600.

The fellowship may be held at any point during the academic year 1 October 2025 – 30 June 2026. It is intended to facilitate access to the manuscripts, libraries, material culture and other resources of Rome.

To apply, please send a letter (max. two pages) to Professor Francesca Tinti (francesca.tinti@ehu.eus), together with a CV.  Your letter should state when you would like to take up the Fellowship. The Editors of Early Medieval Europe will award the Fellowship on the basis of the quality and promise of the research agenda, and on the value and benefit to this research of a stay in Rome at the BSR.
