Remembering Professor Rosamond McKitterick, Friend and Supporter of the BSR

The British School at Rome is very sad to learn of the death of Professor Rosamond McKitterick. Rosamond was an alumna and a long-standing supporter of the School, including in her role as a member (2009–11) and then Chair (2012–22) of the Faculty of Archaeology, History and Letters and as member of the Council of Trustees.

Rosamond was also a major donor to the BSR, supporting research projects and acquisitions in memory of her sister Dr Judith Maitland, most recently the Roman Society Project (https://researchprojects.bsr.ac.uk/s/roman-society/page/home).

She visited us regularly and many of our residents benefited from her informative and enjoyable excursions across Rome, always led on foot and at a tremendous pace. Most recently she had joined our Ashby Patrons Scheme and was looking forward to a visit in the autumn. She will be much missed.
