Eleanor Careless

Dr Eleanor Careless is a writer and researcher. She is the author of Incarceration in the Poetry of Anna Mendelssohn (Bloomsbury, 2025), and a co-authored monograph, Feminist Periodicals, the Women’s Movement and Networks of Feeling, 1968-Today (with Victoria Bazin and Melanie Waters; Edinburgh University Press, forthcoming 2025). She was a Research Fellow for the AHRC-funded project Liberating Histories: Women’s Movement Magazines, Media Activism and Periodical Pedagogies, based at Northumbria University, UK; and for the Leverhulme-funded project The Business of Women’s Words: Purpose and Profit in Feminist Publishing based at the University of Sussex. In 2020 she was the recipient of a British School at Rome Award. Her writing has been published in Modernist Cultures, College Literature, Women: A Cultural Review, History Workshop magazine, Effects journaland The New Inquiry. Her current research explores transnational feminist print cultures, with a focus on the British and Italian feminist movements of the 1970s-80s, and feminist approaches to the archive.
