At the British School at Rome, exhibitions have long been at the heart of our programme across Fine Arts, Architecture, Archaeology and the Humanities. Each exhibition is accompanied by banners that help bring our projects to life and welcome visitors into our spaces.
As part of our commitment to sustainability, we have collaborated with an Italian artisan @kappamery_ to transform selected exhibition banners into unique, handcrafted pencil cases and personal pouches. Each piece is one of a kind, upcycled from banners created for exhibitions including ‘Renata, remember you are unconscious; you have no expression, no pain, you don’t yell, you are unconscious!’ (2022) by Adam Chodzko; ‘You Were Kept Awake All Through the Night’ (2024), featuring Dario Carratta, Ginevra Collini, Aaron Ford, Eloise Fornieles, Kerstin Kartscher and Tura Oliveira; ‘Cloistered’ (2025), featuring Can Gun, Cristina Lavosi, Andrea Mauti, Sophio Medoidze, Cathie Pilkington and Ash Tower; and ‘Anzi Parla’ (2025) by Eloise Fornieles.
Designed for everyday use—whether in the library, studio, office, or for personal essentials—these objects give a second life to materials that once promoted our exhibitions while preserving traces of the artworks and ideas they represented.
Available through a donation at the BSR during our events. By making a donation, you directly support our programmes and our ongoing efforts towards sustainability.
Thank you for your support!
