Join our vibrant academic community at the British School at Rome (BSR) through our Associate Fellowships — non-stipendiary, non-residential opportunities designed for early-career or established scholars who already have external funding or institutional support.
These Fellowships are ideal for researchers exploring any aspect of the social, religious, political, and economic cultures of the Italian peninsula, and their textual, visual, and material dissemination and reception from early prehistory to the modern era.
As an Associate Fellow, you’ll receive:
- Formal affiliation with the BSR for a flexible period of three to twelve months (between late September 2025 and late September 2026)
- Access to the academic life of the BSR, including:
o Permit requests
o Site visits
o Italian language lessons
o Communal IT facilities
o Internal workshops and lectures - Eight complimentary lunches or dinners at the BSR per month
- Preferential access to the BSR Library
