Bridget Riley Fellowship

Bridget Riley’s beautiful ceiling painting, Verve, inaugurated at the BSR in 2023, stands as a vibrant testament to her long-standing relationship with the School.

Since 2016, the BSR has proudly collaborated with the Bridget Riley Art Foundation to offer the Bridget Riley Fellowship, an exceptional opportunity for an early- to mid-career artist working in painting, drawing and/or sculpture. This six-month residency supports artists at a pivotal stage in their practice, offering the time, space and inspiration to develop new work in a stimulating international community.

Bridget Riley Fellows are provided with a beautiful live-in studio, daily meals shared around our communal table, and a monthly stipend to support their work. Fellows become part of a vibrant, interdisciplinary environment of artists, architects, and researchers, with access to an extraordinary range of resources—from Rome’s rich artistic heritage to the BSR’s specialist library and gallery visit programme.

Eligibility: Open to UK or Commonwealth nationals or residents.

Application Deadline: 15 December each year

Applications open each September. Click here to learn more and apply.
