Giles Worsley Rome Fellowship

This Fellowship offers a unique opportunity to spend three months at the British School at Rome, immersed in the architecture and urban history of one of the world’s most inspiring cities.

Offered in partnership with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), this fellowship was established in memory of Giles Worsley—an architectural historian passionate about the power of experiencing buildings in situ. It supports early or mid-career architectural historians and architects whose research would benefit from time in Rome.

Whether you’re exploring a new direction or deepening an existing project, the fellowship offers space to focus, reflect, and produce a self-contained piece of work. Fellows have full access to the BSR’s rich Library and Archive, and become part of a vibrant, interdisciplinary community of scholars and artists.

Applications typically open in September and close in December. To apply, click here
