On 5 June 2024, British artist Bridget Riley (CH., CBE) received an Honorary Fellowship from the British School at Rome, in recognition of her fundamental contribution to the growth and success of the BSR’s Fine Arts programmes, through the funding of the Bridget Riley Fellowship since 2016 and the donation of one of her paintings on the ceiling of the School’s entrance, ‘Verve’, which was unveiled in 2023.
The award was presented to the artist by Abigail Brundin, Director of the BSR and Mark Getty, Chair of the BSR Council, along with support from Raphaële Mouren, Head of Research Collections at the BSR.
Among those present were BSR Council members and fellows, who attended the dinner that followed the awarding of the title.
The British School at Rome is thrilled to count among its members the artist Bridget Riley, whose contribution will forever remain an important part of the School’s history.
Il 5 giugno 2024 l’artista britannica Bridget Riley (CH., CBE) ha ricevuto dalla British School at Rome la Honorary Fellowship, come riconoscimento per il suo fondamentale contributo alla crescita e al successo dei programmi di Fine Arts della BSR, attraverso il finanziamento della Bridget Riley Fellowship dal 2016 e alla donazione di un suo dipinto sul soffitto dell’entrata della Scuola, “Verve”, inaugurato nel 2023.
Il riconoscimento è stato consegnato all’artista da Abigail Brundin, Direttrice della BSR e Mark Getty, Presidente del Consiglio della BSR, insieme al supporto di Raphaële Mouren, responsabile delle collezioni di ricerca della BSR.
Tra i presenti vi erano anche i membri del Consiglio della BSR e i fellow, che hanno partecipato alla cena che ha seguito il riconoscimento del titolo.
La British School at Rome è entusiasta di annoverare tra i suoi membri l’artista Bridget Riley, il cui lavoro rimarrà per sempre un elemento importante della storia della Scuola.
